Any Hyundai Dealership Brooklyn can tell you that they sold past the estimated projected sales for the Equus, the new luxury edition to New Hyundai Cars Brooklyn. According to the automaker, 3,193 Equus models went home to loving families last year, and while that’s not a huge number, it is well better than the 2,000 units Hyundai expected Brooklyn Hyundai Dealers and Hyundai Dealers nationwide to sell collectively. The total sales were enough to snag the company a 5.7-percent share of the premium luxury sedan segment in 2011. Now, the Korean automaker plans to build on this early Equus momentum by pumping up the power.
The exterior of the 2012 Hyundai Equus in Brooklyn remains identical to its predecessor. The vehicle still wears a proud grille, LED-trimmed headlights and a suitably massive Equus badge on the hood. The Equus underwent significant mechanical revision, carrying the same 5.0-liter V8 engine found in the Genesis Sedan R-Spec as well as a new eight-speed automatic transmission that helps maintain fuel economy. With some interior tweaks to spice it up along with its standard equipment, the Equus continues to peak interest in the luxury market.

With technology like parking assist, smart cruise control and a 7.1-speaker Lexicon sound system to comfort tricks like a 12-way power adjustable massaging driver’s seat and automatic dual-temperature control, the Equus is without a doubt entertaining and comfortable. Engineers made slight adjustments by adjusting the headrest designs and improving ventilation in the front seats. Likewise, the rear bench now features a softer center cushion on five-seat models. Otherwise, the gauges, dash and center stack all remain unaltered for 2012.

Despite an additional 44 horses, the 2012 Hyundai Equus in Brooklyn manages to return an EPA-estimated 15 mpg city and 23 mpg highway. The numbers are just one mile per gallon worse than last year’s model in both categories, thanks in no small part to the new eight-speed automatic bolted behind the engine.

Brooklyn Acura drivers – did you attend the 2012 New York International Auto Show? Our Brooklyn Acura dealer was happy to discover that the 2012 Acura TL campaign was awarded Best Luxury Campaign at the Nielsen Automotive Advertising Awards event held at the 2012 New York International Auto Show. The campaign relied on visual metaphors to communicate the refined yet bold performance of the 2012 Acura TL sedan—”aggression in its most elegant form.”
Two 30-second TV and in-theater spots (“Football Player,” “Skier”) featured two well known athletes: Detroit Lions football player Calvin Johnson and 2010 Olympic gold medal winning skier Ashleigh McIvor. Johnson and McIvor were made over into their most elegant selves to represent the aggression and elegance inherent in the luxury Brooklyn Acura TL.
“2012 has been an exciting year for Acura with the launch of the all new Acura ILX and RDX, the long awaited NSX Concept and most recently, the RLX Concept, Acura’s new flagship sedan,” said Mike Accavitti, Vice President of National Marketing Operations. “We are honored to add Nielsen’s award to that list as we continually strive to create campaigns that further Acura’s brand philosophy of innovation and advancement.”
The only awards program measuring effectiveness of automobile TV ads, the Nielsen Automotive Advertising Awards are based on response data from 2.5 million viewers of national television advertising collected by Nielsen. Nielsen measures the effectiveness of every ad and product placement on 24 measured networks. All national auto ads that began airing in 2011 were eligible for the award. Acura of Brooklyn congratulates Acura for the campaign win!

It’s no news that Acura’s line of cars are full of luxury and Acura Brooklyn dealerships are making room for more with the upcoming ILX sedan. In Spring 2012, Acura of Brooklyn will have a new celebrity in its showroom. With a mix of bold creases and flat surfaces, the car’s design is nothing short of stylish. The sedan will be Acura’s first hybrid powertrain. It will be available with three powertrain options: a base 2.0-liter four cylinder mated to an automatic gearbox, a 2.4-liter four with an exclusive six-speed manual transmission and Acura’s first gas-electric hybrid.
“First time luxury buyers place the highest value on exterior styling, affordability and environmental issues and that’s a virtual definition of what we have created with the new Acura ILX,” said Jon Ikeda, head of the Acura Design Studio. “The strategy behind this new model is to position ILX as the first opportunity for many young buyers to enter the luxury market.”
The interior of the ILX provides a lot of room for comfort along with sporty compliments. The high-value features include a smart entry keyless access system and pushbutton start, a Pandora internet radio interface and SMS text message function. The ILX standard features extends to include different trim levels (that will include a Technology Package), multiple transmission choices, and excellent standard safety features- including Acura’s acclaimed Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ body structure, front, side and side-curtain airbags, 4-channel anti-lock brakes and Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA™). Acura predicts that the ILX will receive top ratings in both NHTSA and IIHS crash safety testing. Acura of Brooklyn will have test-drives available come Spring.

The new Hyundai Veloster three-door coupe is speeding to the top of the wanted list, becoming a high point of interest for many of today’s young buyers. We completely understand the reasons for demand. Especially since the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit shed light to the fact that Hyundai will be adding more velocity to the Veloster in the form of an advanced four-cylinder turbocharged engine and an extra 63 hp to create the 2013 Veloster Turbo.
The 1.6-liter engine is perfectly crafted for Hyundai’s six-speed manual transmission, and a twin-scroll turbocharger serves the purpose of decreasing turbo lag while creating 201 horses and 195 lb.-ft. of torque. The Veloster Turbo leads the rest of vehicles in its class, holding the highest amount of horsepower and its light frame —at just 2,800 lbs.—gives it an outstanding power-to-weight ratio. Worried about fuel efficiency? No need. Thanks to gasoline direct-injection technology, the Veloster Turbo is predicted to have EPA ratings of 27 mpg city/38 mpg highway, which outshines other vehicles in its class.
Other reasons to fall in love with the Veloster Turbo include:
- Sport-tuned engine intake and exhaust note
- Sport-tuned steering
- Unique front fascia, foglights and ground effects
- Hyundai-first Matte Gray paint
- Turbo-only 18-inch alloy wheels with chrome inserts
- Projection headlights with LED accents
- Side mirrors with turn signal indicators
- Unique LED taillights
- Hyundai’s Supervision gauge cluster
- Leather seating surfaces with driver’s lumbar support
- Heated front seats
- Exclusive Graphite Black interior with Blue accents and headliner graphics
Mike O’Brien, vice president, product and corporate planning, Hyundai Motor America stated “The Turbo further broadens Veloster’s hero role in the Hyundai line-up to attract our next generation of buyers.” He went on to say,“It’s powerful, high-tech and fuel-efficient, attributes which we think make Veloster Turbo the ultimate innovation in the sport coupe segment.” Michelle Naranjo, managing editor of Autobytel.com said, “Bringing progressive style and substance to the sport compact category, the 3-door hatchback Hyundai Veloster coupe is a win, appealing to fans from the college-bound to the empty nester. The design is a masterfully aggressive representation of Hyundai’s design language.” She goes on to say, “Starting at $17,300, Autobytel editors believe that the 2012 Hyundai Veloster will be leading the pack for the coming year.” We couldn’t agree more with such a strong prediction.
The 2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo is set to make its debut in dealerships this summer. We’ll definitely be waiting with open arms. As for other cars, they’re definitely going to have a hard time stealing its shine.

2010 marks the twelfth year that Hyundai and its dealers have been committed to supporting the fight against childhood cancer. What began in 1998 as a local initiative supported by New England-area Hyundai dealers to raise funds for the Jimmy Fund at Boston’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute has evolved into Hyundai Hope on Wheels, an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization which is supported nationwide by all of Hyundai’s 780 dealers and Hyundai Motor America. Since 1998, Hyundai Hope on Wheels has donated more than $14 million to children’s hospitals nationwide to help kids fight cancer. Every time a new Hyundai vehicle is sold in the U.S., $5 is donated to Hope on Wheels.
The Hope on Wheels Tour is the united effort of Hyundai dealers across the country to raise awareness about childhood cancer and celebrate the lives of the courageous children battling the disease. This summer, the Hope on Wheels Tour will travel to 42 children’s hospitals across the country and donate more than $2 million to support further training and research for doctors involved in childhood cancer research, making it the largest single year of donations in the organization’s history. Hyundai Hope on Wheels designates the medical professionals supported by these donations as Hyundai Scholars.
The 2010 Tour will also host Handprint Ceremonies for childhood cancer patients, both past and present, at the 42 children’s hospitals receiving donations. The symbol of the Hope on Wheels Tour is a white Hyundai Santa Fe covered with colorful handprints representing childhood cancer patients from all over the country. The Handprint Ceremony celebrates the courage of childhood cancer patients by capturing their colorful handprints on the white Santa Fe; children attending the ceremony are asked to lend a hand and place their own handprints on the car to commemorate their battle with cancer. Why handprints? Because there’s nothing more personal than a handprint – and the goal of the Hope on Wheels Tour is to share the personal triumphs of each of these children with other childhood cancer patients and their families across the country. Whether it’s completing a round of chemo, celebrating a beautiful new head of hair or receiving a clean bill of health, one childhood cancer patient’s milestone can be another’s symbol of hope.
Join us at Plaza Hyundai New York in joining the fight against Pediatric Cancer, and make a donation to this great cause today!
